SPAIN'S COSTA BRAVA
Vol. 16, No. 1 Spain
September / October 2010

The Costa Brava is the beautiful rugged coastal region of northeastern Spain that stretches from Blanes (37 miles north of Barcelona) all the way to the French border. The region is dotted with medieval villages that are completely frozen in time and the pristine coast has scenic coves and meticulous sandy beaches that are among the best in Spain. The historic town of Girona is one of the region’s most fascinating to explore and then, of course, there is Salvador Dali. The Costa Brava is home to Dali’s birthplace, burial place, museum and homes. The Dali Museum in Figueres is the most important museum in the region and one of the most important in Spain. Dali personally designed and built his home at Port Lligat in Cadaques (near Figueres), and he purchased and renovated the castle at Pubol (near Girona) as a gift for his wife, Gala. These fascinating local attractions, referred to as the Dali triangle, come together like an intricate patchwork quilt that piece together an intimate portrait of Dali’s life and art. This issue of The European Traveller highlights the region’s most beautiful beaches; the most charming hotels with the best views; the best spot for tapas; the latest El Bulli news; important tips for maximizing the attractions (particularly with regard to Salvador Dali’s museum and homes); and vital information that will save up to $900 in car rental drop-off fees. Subscribers may also be interested in the issues on Barcelona, Madrid, Provence and Paris.   More Issues
